Out in the trees, there arose such a chatter ...

Out in the trees, there arose such a chatter, I flew from my bed before windows shattered.  I threw on my bogs and made a mad dash, when what to my wondering eyes did appear, but hundreds of Robins signaling spring might be near ... (yep, just had to do it). :-)  Don't forget your sound before viewing "Robins Gone Wild."

Sounded like a rain forest full of Robins might sound, didn't it?

I know Robins being one of the first signs of spring is considered an old wives tale by some but I choose to BELIEVE.
Are you a BELIEVER?
What's one of the first signs of spring for you?

C'mon Spring!

  1. I think our robins are different to your because ours herald winter and their song is much more trilling. Lovely to be able to capture their song whilst you were filming. The first sign of spring has to be daffodils starting to flower.

    1. Oh, daffodils are a lovely herald of spring. As far as blooms go, the crocus is the herald of spring here. Of course, the most exciting for me is the awakening of the daylilies. So glad you stopped by, Elaine. :-)

  2. For me it's not the birds, there are some types of birds in my garden all year round. No, it's the spirng bulbs emerging, snowdrops, crocuses, daffodils and tulips. They are all on their way up in my garden right now because we have had a whiff of spring for a while. All that is changing now as we have a cold snap and are expecting our first snow tonight! Spring has taken a break.

    1. We've had some very strange weather here too, Helene. The high has been around 78 degrees lately, but that's going to change later this week. It's nice to have a little whiff of spring though, isn't it? I wish we could grow tulips here, but it doesn't get cold enough in the winter for them. There are good things, like tulips, that come from cold winters. :-) So glad you stopped by, Helene. :-)

  3. As a gardener I want spring...I really do, but it just feels like I am asking for too much if I ask for it here, so soon.

We just started winter, and I am learning to deal with that...but spring can't be too far behind.

    1. Hi Jen, I am asking for too much too. Our little "spring vacation" will be over later this week. I really must control my spring fever, and just enjoy the winter. At least its a time for the garden and the gardener to rest. So glad you stopped by, Jen. :-)

  4. No worries, Beth; with weather these days, all you have to do is wait a minute, and whatever you want will come along. Rain, cold, heat, wind, snow. Robins. Just wait a minute.

  5. What a great video and an excellent description "it's raining robin-song!" It definitely fills the air and lifts the spirit. The return of migrating birds is the first sign of spring for me as well. I love your photos of the branches against the sky, Beth.

    1. Thank you, Rosemary. I'm glad you enjoyed this. The robin's song lifts my spirit as well. I wish the photos of the branches against the sky had been close ups, but I'm glad you liked them. I think it's time for me to use a better camera (something besides the phone camera ... lol), and invest in a telephoto lens. So glad you stopped by. :-)

  6. This post is amazing as here in London the robins have been singing for two weeks through a wet and mild patch - and then yesterday it turned very cold and snowed - no robin song since. This changeable weather is really confusing the birds.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed the post, Annabelle. I just love the Robin's song. I hope your weather turns back warm, so you'll be serenaded once again in London. I think this changeable, crazy weather is confusing everything. The daylilies certainly seem to be confused right now. They're awakening far too early from their "beauty sleep." So glad you stopped by. :-)

    1. I agree, Holley. The first robin sighting of SPRING always lifts my heart. So glad you're a fellow believer. Today is a beautiful, sunny day here, but it's a bit cold outside. I'm glad you stopped by. :-)

  8. It is so cold here at the moment that the robins are trying to move in with our chickens! The first sign of spring for me is the first day of the year I sit outside to eat lunch (usually some time in February). On that day, the birds sing, early spring bulbs are coming into flower and the air is full of promise.

    1. Sorry to hear it's so cold there. Wishing you warmer weather soon. Oh, I love to sit outside and eat lunch too on an early spring-like day. Spring-like days are just magical! It's getting closer. I saw yellow finches on the bird feeders today. So glad you stopped by. :-)

  9. I completely agree that Robins are one of the first signs of spring.

We also know it's spring when we get new tenants in our bird houses...can't wait.
