Black and Red Irises of Yesteryear

BLACK IRIS - HERE COMES THE NIGHT

RED IRIS - RIP CITY
I noticed new growth in the iris bed today, so soon I will have current iris photos rather than irises of yesteryear. :-)  It's a balmy, blustery day here today with rain showers off and on.

  1. The black iris is stunning. There are too few flowers of this colour. We live near to Hampton Court where every year they have a huge and magnificent flower show. I hate to miss it (last year I went in a wheelchair with no hair - this year I am walking and have a head of curly locks). I am looking forward to it as a friend exhibits and has won a gold award and a bronze award too ... she has hopes for another gold this year. xx

  2. Thank you. I agree with you, there are too few flowers this color. I have always thought there should be a black flower (or as close as possible to black) in every garden. I looked up Hampton Court and the gardens. All I can say is WOW! I would love to visit there. The gardens are beautiful on the Internet, and I'm sure I'd just be fascinated at the flower show. I'm so glad you get to go the the flower show this year walking and with curly locks. I hope you are cured of your illness ... you're in my thoughts and prayers. I wish I could see your friend's exhibits in the show. Does she blog or is she on Facebook? Also, are you on Facebook?
